Lake Conroe Seasonal Lowering Program

Community Association Presidents:

The San Jacinto River Authority is in the process of considering whether or not to continue the
SJRA/COH flood mitigation program of a dedicated seasonal lowering of Lake Conroe for another year.
There has been a strong coordinated effort of the Lake Conroe area residents opposing this program.
The SJRA has scheduled two public meetings to obtain input on this proposal. One meeting was held on
January 21. There was a small contingent of Lake Houston area residents in comparison to the large
turnout of Lake Conroe area residents. It was a long night of hearing how bad this program is for Lake
Conroe residents. It is important that Lake Houston area residents provide strong support for
continuing this program for another year. It has had a positive impact on flood prevention in this area
during large rain events. Go to www.reduceflooding.com/lake-lowering for additional information on
the meeting and the lake lowering program.

The second public meeting will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at 6:00 pm at the Lone Star
Convention and Expo Center at 9055 Airport Road, Conroe, Texas 77303. Doors open at 5:00 pm. It is
critical that the Lake Houston area have a strong turnout at this last public meeting. Even if you don’t
wish to speak, your presence is important. I am asking each community association to send at leas one
representative to this meeting.

Comments can also be provided by sending a letter or email to the SJRA Board. Information on where to

Please help support this important program for the Lake Houston area.
